Why does car tuning in Forza Horizon 5 feel simple at first but deep later?

At first, tuning in Forza Horizon 5 feels like just adding upgrades and making numbers go up. But after a while, tire pressure, gearing, suspension, aero, differential, and weight balance start to matter a lot.

How deep is FH5 tuning really?

Can casual players get good results with basic upgrades, or do proper tunes make a huge difference in races and drifting?

FH5 tuning starts simple because upgrades give obvious number boosts. But later you realize numbers can lie. A car with more power can still drive like a shopping cart if gearing, tires, suspension, and differential are cooked.

For casual racing, focus on:

  • Tires before huge horsepower
  • Weight reduction for handling
  • Gearing so the car actually uses its power
  • Brake balance if you keep overshooting corners
  • Differential tuning for grip vs rotation

For drifting, the setup changes hard. You usually want controlled oversteer, predictable throttle response, and gearing that keeps the car in the power band.

Basic upgrades are fine for casual play. But proper tunes are a big deal when you want consistency. A good tune makes the car feel like it listens instead of arguing with you every corner.
