Marvel Rivals crashes on first launch while compiling shaders, what causes it?

First time launching Marvel Rivals and it crashes while compiling shaders. I never even got into a match. It sits there for a bit, fans ramp up, then it closes. Is this normal first-launch shader pain, or does it mean something is wrong with my driver/install?

A first-launch shader crash usually means the shader compile hit unstable cache, driver, or GPU settings. Do this: 1. Reboot first. 2. Update or clean reinstall GPU driver. 3. Clear shader cache. 4. Verify game files. 5. Disable overlays. 6. Set GPU clocks to stock if overclocked/undervolted. 7. Launch and let it sit without alt-tabbing. The fans ramping up during shader compile is normal. The crash is not. If it crashes at the same point every time, the cache or driver is the first suspect.
